First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has joined several other Ghanaians and stakeholders in celebrating World Teachers Day today.

According to Mrs. Akufo-Addo, her foundation, The Rebecca Foundation will continue to work in the best interest of teachers in Ghana.

“I join all and sundry to wish our magnificent teachers a Happy World Teachers’ Day.
We the people of Ghana remain eternally grateful and together with other stakeholders, The Rebecca Foundation, will work to improve and help teachers enjoy their deserved rewards. Let us all use this day to show maximum love, care and respect towards teachers. Our world is a dignified place because of them” she said in a post on Instagram.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Teachers Council celebrated teachers in the country as part of this year’s World Teachers Day.

At the event held in Sunyani, under the theme: “Teachers wanted: Reclaiming teaching and learning for human-centred recovery”. Some teachers were celebrated with awards for their sacrifices and outstanding work, especially amid a pandemic.

World Teachers Day is held annually on October 5 to celebrate teachers around the globe for their impact on the world.
