Janet Tulasi Mensah

The Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, Janet Tulasi Mensah says she is appreciative of the opportunity to serve as MCE for the area as she exits office.

According to her, she hoped to be retained as MCE in the announced list of President Akufo-Addo’s Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly (MMDCE) nominees, but that was not meant to be as another person, Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, was nominated.

“Many, including myself, had hoped that I would be given another opportunity to serve as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Abokobi.  However, the President made a different choice all in the hope of further developing the municipality,” Janet Mensah noted.

She said while in office, she ensured that the municipality saw significant developments, but some challenges still exist, and she is hopeful that the next occupant of the office will address them and make the municipality an enviable one.

“Under my tenure of office, a lot was achieved, and I am very proud of our collective efforts in this direction. However, the Municipality faces challenges in some areas of the economy, especially the roads sector, which though we achieved remarkable success, we still have more to do. As I exit, I still have the fervent hope that the Municipality would see more development and truly become the “Enviable Municipality” among its peers in Ghana and beyond.”

While thanking President Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve since 2017, she expressed appreciation with all assembly members, and stakeholders within the municipality who assisted her throughout the time she was in service as MCE.

Janet Tulasi Mensah is among the 135 MMDCEs who were not retained in the recent list announced by the Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe.
