The Power Distribution Service (PDS) will from today, March 15 begin a 10-hour load shedding exercise in some selected communities in the Greater Accra Region.
This follows a directive by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) over the relocation of a 330KV Aboadze-Volta transmission line at Pokuase to make way for ongoing construction work on the Pokuase interchange.
In a written request, GRIDCo wants the PDS to shed load each day from today until constructors complete their work on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
“We, therefore, wish to request you to extend the outage on affected PDS MV/LV lines in the corridor to March 19, 2018. The outage should be from 8.00hrs to 18.00hrs each day over the period,” GRIDCo’s directive suggested.
Communities to be affected include John Teye, Pokuase new site, Pokuase Council, Aduman, Domiabra,
The rest are Pokuase Hill Estate, Abuom, GWCL Pumping Station, KNUST District Office, SKOAM Training Center, Ayigbey Town and its environs.
Ghanaians have raised concerns about the recent power outages fearing a possible return to the ‘dumsor’ days.
But Public Relations Officer of PDS, William Boateng, has explained that the blackouts were due to technical challenges.
