Former Deputy Minister of Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has reacted to the denial of President Akufo-Addo of his promise to establish a harbour in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

According to Mr. Kwakye, unlike former President Mahama who executed projects like the expansion of the Tema Port, his counterpart, President Akufo-Addo has forgotten promises he made to the people.

During a campaign launch ceremony in Cape Coast last electionering period, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia who was the running mate to President Akufo-Addo promised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will build a harbour in that part of the country.

“The people of Cape Coast, I have good news for you, we are building a new harbour in Cape Coast and a new airport in Cape Coast.” He said.

President Akufo-Addo has however said that was not part of his promises.

“The commitment was never to a harbour; it was to a landing site,” he said on Cape Coast-based Eagle FM on Monday October 18.

Reacting to this, Mr Kwakye Ofosu took to his twitter page to reinstate the expansion of the Tema Port by former President John Mahama, to make it the largest in West and Central Africa.

“Prez Mahama expanded Tema Port to make it the largest in West and Central Africa. As for Prez Akufo-Addo,he doesn’t even remember that he promised the folks in Cape Coast a Harbour.” He wrote.

He also added “What is it with President Akufo-Addo and Ports and Harbours? If he is not appointing a CEO for the non-existent Keta Port, then he is denying ever promising to give the people of Cape Coast a Harbour.”
