The Ghana Police Service has said that timely interventions and strict measures put in place, have decreased the accustomed destruction of school properties and the act of vandalism by  final year students across.

Police in a press release said that various measures such as the introduction of the Proactive Prevention Policing Strategy and highly criminalizing of such acts by students have contributed greatly to the conscious effort of ensuring that such habits do not prevail this year.

This includes interaction with school authorities and the students in some some schools across the country on the need to uphold the law and the rules and regulations of their schools.

The Police however, said that further investigations are on going at the Nyinahin Senior High school in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, where a dormitory has been razed down by fire on the   9th of October 2021.

According to them, preliminary investigations revealed that most of the final year students have checked out of campus while the remaining ones were at rosary prayers before the inferno.

 

They further urged school authorities, parents, guardians and the general public to help in the engaging the youth on their civic responsibilities  including their role in maintaining law and order.
