President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted the nomination of private legal practitioner, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng as Special Prosecutor.

A statement released by the presidency said Mr. Agyebeng is “eminently qualified to become Special Prosecutor” and urged parliament to expedite work on his confirmation process in order for him to start work in earnest.

Some persons including the former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu had expressed  reservations with the nomination of Mr. Agyebeng describing him a “surrogate” for the controversial Agyapa deal. Mr. Amidu who resigned over the deal accused Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere Darko of masterminding the nomination of the Mr. Agyebeng.
