Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The Queen’s husband, who carried the title of the Duke of Edinburgh, was a colourful character well-known for his forthright views during decades of royal service.
He officially retired from public life in 2017 after completing 22,219 royal engagements since 1952.
Prince Philip was married to Queen ElizabethII and the pair had four children together – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
