Effective today, February 26, 2022, commuters will pay 15% more on transportation fares.

This follows an earlier announcement by the Road Transport Operators.

They had demanded a 30% upward adjustment, but only 15% was approved by government.

The adjusment is in line with the administrative arrangements on public transport fares and after intense negotiations with stakeholders and in consideration of the plight of drivers, commuters and the general public, according to the transport unions.

The union further notes the continuous increment in fuel prices on the market and has called on the public to cooperate.

“We kindly request all commercial transport operators to comply with the new fares and post same at loading terminals”, the Road Transport Operators union said in a statement.
