Police in the Upper East Region has apprehended a suspected armed robber Agriwen Owen at Azim-zim on the Sandema-Chuchuluga road with a pump-action gun, seven AAA live cartridges and one AAA empty cartridges, a jack knife, 1 handcuff and a talisman on October 5.
According to the Police, the suspect was spotted on a motorbike by the police night patrol team in Sandema around 2:30am and was signaled to stop but failed to comply and was nabbed after a hot case.
“Police Night Patrol Team in Sandema during their duty tour on Monday, October 5, 2021 spotted the suspect in charge a motorbike at wee hours at about 2:30 am and signaled him to stop but failed to comply with police warning. He was however, arrested after a hot chase and a search conducted on him revealed the above concealed in a bag he was holding” the statement said.
Further search in his room before his niece uncovered an ash “police torchlight, one empty cartridge, a police reflector and a piece of police material with inscription Ghana.”
The statement further revealed that a victim of attempted robbery whose name was withheld, was at the station same day around 2:50 am to report an attempted robbery in his house at about 2:00 am.
“Information available to the police indicates suspect Agriwen Owen a chief of Balansa was dismissed from the Ghana Armed Forces for misconduct and was recruited by NADMO but was again dismissed for allegation of misconduct.“
