The US Government has presented the first of four oxygen plants to the Government of Ghana.

Making the presentation at the Ghana Infectious Disease Centre (GIDC) at Kwabenya in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, the US Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Stephanie S. Sulliva said, her country is making several significant steps to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, save lives, and continue to strengthen Ghana’s health systems.

She said the US government would also provide clinical and non-clinical technical assistance associated with the donation of the oxygen equipment to prepare health staff and biomedical engineers to ensure the long term use and maintenance of the equipment.

Dr. Nicholas Adjabu, head of Biomedical Engineering Unit of the Ministry, on behalf of the Minister for Health, expressed his gratitude to the US government for the donation.

“We hope this is not going to be the end of the partnership”, he said.

He also extended the Ministry’s appreciation to the hardworking staff of the Ghana Infectious Disease Centre (GIDC).

In addition to this donation, the US government will subsequently inaugurate three additional plants at Cape Coast Municipal Hospital, Kumasi South and Tamale West hospitals.
