Ghanaians must learn to embrace new characters – Safo Newman

Ghanaian music sensation Safo Newman, has reacted to concerns raised by critics and fans about his seemingly introversive nature.

The musician, who grabbed the attention of music fans on social media earlier this year has opined that he has come under criticism for being overly reserved because some Ghanaians are accustomed to just one way of doing or experiencing things, and aren’t receptive to accepting new styles.

He intimated to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on 103.9 FM, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, that, “you have to be different. In Ghana, may be we are not very receptive to new characters… we always want the normal ones we know, but I think we should change”.

Safo Newman argued that in other parts of the world, unique characters and personalities are easily embraced, citing Ukranian-born Carpetman, American singer Melanie Martinez and Australian singer Sia, all of whom have unique style and appearances, as examples.

According to Safo Newman, he’s naturally an introverted person. “My reserved nature is just a temperament. I’m different. Back in school, my teachers thought I didn’t understand what they taught because of my demeanor”, he expatiated.
