Legon Cities have sacked head coach Yaw Acheampong as the team battles relegation in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Acheampong’s exit follows a string of poor results, including a 1-0 loss to Basake Holy Stars.
Tijani Abdul Rahim, a former assistant to Maxwell Konadu and one-time head coach of Young Apostles, has been appointed to take charge and guide the team to safety.
With just five games left, Legon Cities occupy the 17th spot with 25 points after 29 games. Abdul Rahim’s task will be to navigate the team through their remaining fixtures, including matches against Bechem United, Nations FC, Aduana Stars, Hearts of Oak, and Dreams FC.
Acheampong’s tenure was marked by disappointing performances, leading to his dismissal. This marks the second time he has been sacked this season, having previously been let go by Aduana Stars.
Abdul Rahim’s wealth of experience will be crucial in determining Legon Cities’ fate in the league.
