The Magistrate of the District Court in Accra has been directed by the Interior Ministry to issue arrest warrants for four Ghanaian nationals wanted by the United States of America.
The individuals, Isaac Oduro Boateng, Inusah Ahmed, Derrick Van Yeboah, and Patrick Kwame Asare are the subjects of an extradition request made through the U.S. diplomatic mission in Ghana, acting via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
According to the letter signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP) and dated March 18, 2025, the request for their arrest is in accordance with the Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22). The individuals are believed to be currently residing in Ghana.
The Interior Minister, acting under Section 7(1) of the Extradition Act, has signaled to the District Court that sufficient grounds exist for a warrant to be issued for the apprehension of the suspects.
While the letter does not specify the nature of the alleged offences, the involvement of U.S. authorities suggests that the charges may include crimes with international ramifications.
This development underscores Ghana’s ongoing cooperation with foreign governments in matters of transnational crime and law enforcement. It also highlights the critical role of the judiciary in enforcing extradition protocols.
The accused persons are expected to face court proceedings once apprehended, after which the legal process for their possible extradition to the United States will unfold.
