The Ghana Armed Forces has evacuated three Ghanaian traders injured in a terrorist attack in northern Burkina Faso to Accra for urgent medical treatment.
The victims were airlifted on Tuesday by the Ghana Air Force following the deadly assault in the town of Titao. They are currently receiving specialized care at the 37 Military Hospital .In a statement, the military said the evacuation formed part of a coordinated government response to support Ghanaian nationals affected by insecurity in the Sahel. The operation involved collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The attack, which targeted Ghanaian traders many of them tomato merchants resulted in multiple casualties. Government sources confirmed that several Ghanaians lost their lives, while others sustained injuries. President John Dramani Mahama directed that the injured be transported back to Ghana to receive advanced medical attention.
The Ghana Armed Forces expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting Ghanaian citizens both at home and abroad. The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of cross-border traders operating in conflict-prone areas of the Sahel region.
