Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to investigate the National Cathedral project amid concerns over its financial management.
Speaking during Mahama’s ‘Thank You’ tour on Friday, May 30, the traditional leader emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in national governance.
“Don’t fear anyone in your pursuit of justice. If you are afraid and fail to do what is required, Your Excellency, it will not be beneficial,” he advised.
The Dormaahene expressed uncertainty over the project’s details but insisted that a thorough probe is necessary.
“Regarding the National Cathedral and the $58 million—whether the person involved is a pastor, a chief, or whoever they may be—As for that pit. I don’t understand the entire situation, but it must be investigated,” he stated.
He warned Mahama against ignoring public outcry and urged him to ensure accountability, regardless of who might be implicated.
“Don’t let anyone convince you that it’s not worth investigating. If you ignore it, Ghanaians will be disappointed in you,” the Dormaahene cautioned.
