
The Tema Regional Police Command has taken two individuals into custody in connection with the gruesome murder of a man discovered lifeless within the Tema Harbour enclave.
The arrests came after a distress call was made on Friday, May 30, 2025, alerting the police to the discovery of the body.
According to a police statement issued on Sunday, June 1, the investigation led to the apprehension of the suspects.
“While investigating the scene, we received further information that some members of the public had arrested a man for allegedly carrying a human head,” the statement read.
“The police swiftly proceeded to the second location and rescued the suspect, who was identified as Ali Mustapha.”
Ali Mustapha and a second suspect, Zakaria Mohammed, were subsequently taken into custody. “He was subsequently taken into custody. Further investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Zakaria Mohammed,” the police statement added.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased as the investigation continues. Both suspects remain in police custody.
