Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has failed to appear before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as scheduled, citing unexpected health complications.
According to sources close to the former minister, Ofori-Atta’s legal team has formally notified the OSP and the Human Rights Court of his inability to attend, submitting medical reports detailing his current health condition and scheduled surgical procedures.
The OSP had invited Ofori-Atta for questioning in connection with several ongoing investigations. The former minister’s legal team has offered for him to participate in the investigation virtually, under the Electronic Transactions Act, allowing the OSP to obtain a cautioned statement remotely while he undergoes treatment.
The development comes amid an ongoing court case where Ofori-Atta is challenging his earlier designation as a wanted person by the OSP. The Human Rights Court is set to rule on the matter on June 18, 2025.
The OSP has yet to issue any fresh official communication on how it intends to proceed in light of Ofori-Atta’s absence.
