President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to uphold the independence of Ghana’s anti-corruption agencies, promising not to interfere with ongoing investigations or influence cases.
Meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at Jubilee House, President Mahama emphasized his commitment to the rule of law and prosecutorial independence.
“I have told the public and assured my Attorney General and Minister of Justice that I am not going to interfere in their work,” he said firmly.
The President assured that the anti-corruption agencies would be allowed to pursue cases without political pressure, stating, “If the anti-corruption agencies go after anybody, I am not going to try and influence them to drop any investigation against anybody, including those who served in the previous regime, many cases of whom we are currently investigating.”
This commitment underscores President Mahama’s dedication to fighting corruption and upholding the rule of law in Ghana.
