President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the importance of accountability and integrity in public office, calling on Ghanaians to hold leaders to the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the State House forecourt in Accra on July 1, 2025, President Mahama stressed that leadership is a sacred responsibility to serve the people, particularly the vulnerable, rather than a privilege for personal gain.
“Public office is not above the law. Even the Office of the President, which by the grace of God I now hold, must be grounded in justice, honesty, and reverence for God,” he stated.
The President called on all citizens to demand accountability from leaders and to live upright lives. He said the true greatness of Ghana lies not in buildings or budgets, but in values such as courage, honesty, discipline, sacrifice, and compassion.
“A nation becomes great through the character of its people. If we want a just Ghana, we must have just leadership,” he added.
President Mahama also praised the church and Christian leaders for their continued prayers and guidance. He thanked various denominations, including the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Christian Council of Ghana, and the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, for being moral anchors for the nation.
